The Happy Child Guide | How to stop misbehavior

How to stop misbehavior

Recently I was in a local grocery store it’s a national grocery chain that most of us are familiar with.
I witness child vs. parent, it was quite an event.
It was a Saturday afternoon and the grocery store was fairly crowded.
The child was having a temper tantrum for whatever reason and the mother lost complete control of the situation and was embarrassed and didn’t’ know what to do to stop / control her child’s public tantrum.

The child lost complete control and from the looks of things the parent was soon to follow.
The parent almost immediately starts threats of punishment that would normally get any child’s attention.
All to no avail because the child’s mind was stuck on that item he wanted from the grocery shelf and nothing else mattered. It was a big event that captured the attention of most shoppers in the area.
I’m almost certain that some of the older customer in the grocery store was expecting physical discipline actions from Mother at any moment and in their eyes, it would have been quite appropriate considering the moment.
The child was pitching a major league tantrum with absolutely no end in sight.
After minor yelling from mom and a series of punishment threats that didn’t work. The mother moved quickly to plan#2 offers rewards if the child would just quietly stop the tantrum and the both could resume normal activity.
But from the look of things plan #2 wasn’t going to be effective at all, at least not for the moment.
The child was so hyped up with the temper tantrum he did not hear the rewards the mother put on the table.
It took a while for the rewards offered by mom to penetrate the massive tantrum storm that has moved into this local grocery, like a tropical wave. Everyone watching braced for impact from the fallout of this storm and with fears that the worse was yet to come.
As this tantrum and rolling over the floor continued I thought to myself how will mom get
control of this situation if rewards didn’t work or the rewards offered simply didn’t register in the child’s mind for the time being.
At any moment I was expecting some of the obviously unhappy spectators would jump in and do something, anything to put a stop to this, the show had went on long enough.

Finally the rewards that mom repeatedly mention was absorbed by child and was processed and the show came to an end and things quickly return to normal in the grocery store. The crowd disbursed and went about their business of grocery shopping, looking back over their shoulders to make sure it was over.
I hope that Mother and many other parents are reading this article because there is a solution to bad behavior problems.
